He is also an alumnus of the École nationale d’administration ("Voltaire" class). Following his integration into the corps of finance inspectors in 1980, Mr. Jouyet served as Head of Office, then Deputy Director in the Tax Legislation Department of the Ministry of the Economy and Finance between 1984 and 1988.
Then, between 1988 and 1991, he served as Director of Cabinet to the Minister of Industry, Foreign Trade and Town and Country Planning. He then became Deputy Director and then Chief of Staff to Jacques Delors, President of the European Commission, between 1991 and 1995.
