Renoir art projects for 3rd grade kids

One of my favorite parts about homeschooling my kids is doing art projects with them. Pierre Auguste Renoir is the current artist we are learning about and I have a fun idea for a Renoir art project for kids!

I am a huge fan of impressionist art.

I had one of Renoir’s prints on my wall as a kid, the Girl with The Watering Can. It has always been a favorite.

As I was looking through the art pieces of Renoir to print for my kids I saw one that I loved called The Wave.

I thought it would be a perfect one to do with my kids. To recreate it, we used sponges! It was so perfect for this painting. The colors are all sort of swirled together and splotchy, this made it great for doing it with a sponge.

And, of course, we all had our own unique interpretation of how we should paint the art work!
